The core value of Australians is Fairness - Fairness to all people, no matter who they are and where they come from.
However, politicians reinterpret "fairness" only from their party values perspectives.
Labors emphasise on fair to those being suppressed, the workers. Hence, workers' unions stressed their rights and often put that above others. Policies of such a nature are either unsustainable or unjust to the others.
Liberals see fairness from a discriminative and utilitarian view with little compassion for the weaker ones. Newcomers and the disadvantaged found little mercy or support in this country. Policies like that only lead to more unfairness and inhumanity.
As an independent of a CALD background, I firmly believe Australia's core value rests on a non-biased and non-discriminative system emphasising fairness and compassion.
